Recap: Design Christmas Market

berlin textile coop.  is a meeting point for textile development, innovation and the associated community of design, start-ups, SMEs and young talents.

December 3rd, 2023

I showed my products at a Design Christmas Market in Berlin and this is what happened.

Excuse the dramatic title, I think I have been too chronically online lately. Anyhow, the first ever Design Christmas Market at the berlin textile coop. happened! And it was fun!
The atmosphere at the Coop was so lovely – you could smell the creativity in the air – and the silver lametta gave the usual workshop room a special va-va-voom for this day.

Not only did I get a chance to participate and show my Loops Bags and Pocketlooms, I also met a lot of cool designers who create beautiful things. Here are all the talented designers that participated:
💫 Petersen Boissel with their beautiful towel collection

💫 2020untainted with upcycled garments, my favorite: the cashmere sweaters.

💫 Juni Sun Neyenhus with her seasonal calenders in a beautiful one-colour design.

💫 Jünger Kühn with 3D printed vases, done with a special technique.

💫 Tim Van der Loo and the pillow cases from recycled jersey and other upcycled gems.

💫 Jukka Samuli Herttua with the softest painted silk scarfs.

💫 Me, Jasmin Sermonet, participated with my Pocketlooms and the Loopz Bags.

Now the real talk. A lot of designers and creatives feel similar when it comes to actually publishing a project or showing products to the public … to “strangers”. It simply never feels good enough to be posted on Instagram.

I recently learned on through a tiktok, that this type of fear (a fear of being perceived) is not helping at all – you put the project or product is on a pedestal, never ready to see the daylight. Believe me, I had this a million times in my life.
I decided to just go for it and show the “little things that I made” at the Christmas Market at the berlin textile coop. And guess what happened? I sold bags and looms and had a lot of good chats with people!

The variety of the objects and products really made this event special. And isn’t it always cool to see how people’s creativity turns out so differently?
